A joke in four parts... 3:
The vacationer explains that yes, essentially that's true, but it would be better to ease him into the facts. "The first day you explain that the cat got out and ran up on the roof. The next day you explain that the cat fell from the roof and was seriously hurt. The next day you explain that the cat passed on, and is no longer in pain." In that way, the news is delivered easily, the shock is lessened. The friend understands and thanks him for the lesson.
