we get it... daily
June 4, 2011
US consumers didn't get the pyramid, maybe they'll get the plate.
The US Agriculture department put out a "simpler" sign for what to eat at every meal. Mostly this looks like a plate cut in four odd pieces, with fruits and protein taking a back seat to veggies and grain.
Funny but grain must be getting a big PR subsidy here, as most nutritionists wouldn't recommend that much at a meal. Dairy too, has a very large portion in a circle alongside the plate. Again, many of us are wondering "where's the red wine portion?"
Seriously, wine has been recognized in Europe as a healthy beverage when taken in moderation.
And it's awesome if you ignore that moderation thing.
