Sad thought...
We were discussing the topic of "what would it really be like if aliens landed." Lots of scenarios from books and movies went around, but the whole invasion thing wasn't really all that interesting. More likely these visitors would be curious explorers, inquisitive about us and our findings on life and the universe.
The most disturbing scenario was the idea that they land and start looking for the folks who left stuff on our moon, the flag, dune buggy, golf balls... wanting to talk to those guys because they obviously had their shit together.
And we'd have to tell them that they're not here any more.
