Faked...

Waste of time.  That's how we've responded to people asking us if we saw the "awesome opening ceremony" on Friday.

And now, it comes out that we're so right, at least about those amazing fireworks. 

They were fake. An illusion. A 3D graphics sequence, superimposed on an image of the stadium that was passed off as real, even to the people sitting in "the bird's nest."

Somewhat in keeping for a country where other countries goods are openly counterfeited to an insane volume. Guess you have to know what you're good at.

We did catch a little of the interior replay, where thousands of Chinese were reduced to essentially pixels on the floor of the stadium, a fairly fitting analogy on attitudes regarding the individual spirit...
