As to why we feel kind of creeped out and dirty whenever we find ourselves among the herd animals in a Wal-Mart, this just in.

Despite claims of innocence, multiple reports are that the official corporate policy for the store management is to lobby employees against democratic agendas. Mostly because they're afraid of unionization, that would slow their continued erosion of smaller stores in rural areas.

This goes right up there with their "let's overfeed the obese" and "more guns less books" policies.
