Emancipation

Today is the anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln issuing the Emancipation Proclamation; an important date in the history of the country where "all men are created equal." Although not actually freed until the passing of the Thirteenth Amendment, the proclamation set a date for the freeing of over three million black slaves in the US.

All notes about great presidents establishing time-tables aside, we do hope that many of you will find an appropriate way of celebrating this day.

But, we expect many won't.
