we get it... daily

June 17, 2006

At last, science is good for something...

Hey, does your hand have a little tremble after your third cup of coffee?

Feel bad about that?

Forget it.  Now science has given you a reason to be proud of your caffeine addiction: You're leading your own personal fight against liver disease.

Yup. Those great old guys in the white lab coats over at Kaiser Permanente health care organisation in California, just published in the US journal Archives of Internal Medicine that people who drink one cup of coffee a day are 20% less likely to suffer alcoholic cirrhosis than those who drink none.

Adding three more cups a day: 80% less likely to get the disease.

And you get a bonus: increased sex drive, much more attractive to local baristas, and more likely to buy us a cup when we see you down at the local shop or pub.

Of course we're lying about the whole sex drive and attractiveness thing.  That applies to us, not you.  Sorry.
