Not to be outdone...
In an eventually weak attempt to one-up hurricane Katrina, the Sun on Wednesday expelled one of the largest solar flares on record.
Science 101: Solar flares come with intense radio emissions that interrupt high-frequency communications when they hit the earth. They are often seen in a series of events, which of course temporarily interrupts news broadcasts reporting how screwed up things are in the flood zone.
