Bush's Latest Nemesis
We watch with amusement as Bush avoids a confrontation with his latest enemy, Cindy Sheehan.
Sheehan is the mother of a soldier killed in Bush's war, and she is currently camping outside of the Bush Davidian Complex in Crawford TX. Inside W is busy doing important stuff, like posing for pictures cutting up tree stumps. Outside a mother lays siege to the complex, lying in wait to tell the president he's responsible for the unnecessary death of her son, and to ask him to pray with her. This is a photo op that the War President dearly wants to avoid.
That's the funny thing about prayer, it's very rarely about asking for more violence or intrusion, more about bringing peace and admitting you've made mistakes. Funny thing that so many of the fundamentalists have totally forgotten in their "My Way or the Highway to Hell" push for salvation through political engineering. But we digress.
The mother on the outside. The president trapped within. The tension here is so thick you could cut it with a chainsaw.
