Planning...

The whole British memo thing, where Blair's advisors reviewed the Bush plan for war and said it would involve "a ''protracted and costly" postwar occupation," got comment from the Bush administration yesterday.

It's pretty much what you'd expect, lots of fluster and bluster, but no real detail to rebuke.

''There was significant postwar planning," spokesmonkey David Almacy said. ''More importantly, the memo in question was written eight months before the war began; there was significant postwar planning in the time that elapsed."

So the British were right, and right way before W even lobbed in the first bombs. Eh David?

What was the significant post-war planning that David alluded to?  We expect it was that whole fighter flight suit and "Mission Accomplished" banner.  It takes a lot of planning to make an aircraft carrier off San Diego look like it's deployed at sea.
