Our Favorites #2: A two-fer in March...

Hard to choose here, so no choice; we'll do both.  We liked March of 2003.  In like a lion, out like a laughing lamb.  First, we had a small observation on gated communities.  And later, one of our better original haikus.

The GC stuff got us a call from a TV producer who wanted to use the premise for a reality show.  The idea was that the idle rich would eventually turn on each other as their little padlocked community broke down, ending with small acts of cannibalism. We held out on a production point and the show never got past early talks. We wanted to personally pick the community...

The haiku was written after a Sunday drive along the coast.  One of those spiritual wish fulfillment moments where you really needed a camera.
