One Nation, Under Eisenhower...
Just a reminder in this whole Pledge of Allegiance thing. The "under God" part got stuck in by the Eisenhower (Remember him? Had a vice president named Nixon.) administration during that whole crazy '50s thing. This was the time period that brought us the Joe McCarthy Commie witch hunt show, thalidomide, human-exposure nuclear bomb testing, doctors recommending cigarettes, and a bunch of other great ideas. Ah, Happy Days... what a time of innocence.
So some perspective folks. The founding fathers didn't put it in, a bunch of crazies thought it would be good to demonstrate the "dedication of our nation and people to the almighty." They were already busy taking apart public safety and civil rights, so why not trounce that whole "separation of church and state" thing while they were at it.
Anyway, shouldn't it be one nation, under Big Oil?
