Double Nixon
Commemorative Day...
On
this day, in 1962, Dick Nixon announced his
leaving politics with the now-famous "You won't
have Dick Nixon to kick around any more" speech.
On
this day, in 1972 (actually not confirmed until
the 11th but what the heck), Tricky Dick won
re-election to as president, with the help of a
few plumbers.
Sometime
later, he quit the office and was replaced by Vice
President Spiro Agnew. Agnew was later indicted
for tax fraud. But then Dick got shingles and we
all thought that was terribly appropriate.
